Hi, I’m David—the face behind David’s Parrot Care. Birds have been my passion for as long as I can remember, and building this business almost four years ago was my way of combining that love with the joy of helping others. To me, parrots aren’t just pets—they’re family, each with their own quirks, voices, and needs. That’s why I go above and beyond to provide detailed, thoughtful care that makes them feel safe, happy, and understood. From perfectly measured meals and spotless cages to hours of playtime, enrichment, and companionship, I give every bird the same level of care and attention I give to my own flock. My clients know they can count on me to be reliable, compassionate, and maybe just a little bird-obsessed—and honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
What do we do?
David’s Parrot Care brings together the revolutionary and amazing idea of in-home bird care to clients in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. In 2019, I looked around at solutions for bird care that did not involve sending my bird to a virtual prison - an unfamiliar, tiny cage where she would get no attention.
Sadly, I didn’t find anything that would fit my needs so I gave up traveling for a while. I wondered, “Would anyone buy this? A dedicated, parrot professional to come in home and care for their pet”? And thus, David’s Parrot Care launched admist the COVID 19 pandemic.
I have grown slowly and surely over the years and have perfected this type of service. I currently have over 300 owners as clients and nearly 600 parrots that I have cared for. This method WORKS. I have done, to date, over 5,000 visits. I know how to care for a bird and keep them alive and happy. You will never send your bird to prison again once you embrace the David’s Parrot Care experience!
Why do you need a bird expert to care for your parrot? Why is in-home care so much better than boarding?
Even though parrots are the third most common pet behind cats and dogs, their needs are significantly greater than their canine and feline counterparts. Parrots are loud, expressive, messy and have nutritional requirements beyond “feed this much food at this amount of time”. With a trusted bird pro, we know the signs and symptoms to look out for of stress, anxiety, boredom or if your bird has stopped eating. We know the steps to provide intervention and when to contact a vet.
Simply put in home parrot care just makes sense.
Control the variables…
Traditional Boarding exposes your birds to scary sights, sounds and smells.
There are new people all of the time feeding unfamiliar food.
The risk of disease is HIGH, even in facilities that require the most common testing.;
Did you know … there is no accurate test for Avian Bornavirus (Macaw Wasting Disease)?
Did you know… Psittacosis (a flu like disease that disables a birds lungs) and PBFD ( A disease that causes the bird to rot from the inside; losing all of its feathers, muscle mass and keratin which is what makes its beak and nails) are tested for there is no guarantee of what can crop up in a stressful environment. These diseases can lay dormant for years and then one stressful event will wipe out the whole facility.
Did you know… your bird will be in a cage the entire time you are away and will not get taken out or have interaction when in a boarding facility?
In Home Bird Care is the ONLY solution that makes sense!
There is no risk of disease transmission as I change clothes and sanitize my hands before every visit!
Your pet gets to stay in their home environment with familiar sights, sounds and smells! This will decrease overall stress and essentially eliminate the risk of stress and sickness during a stay.
Your bird gets guaranteed one on one attention from the same person daily instead of constant strangers.
In a boarding facility, they may get fresh food and water and a “See ya” for the day.
You have a dedicated expert to instruct and ask questions of at any time via text, phone call and/or email.
You have a customized solution to your bird care needs, not just a too small cage with no attention.
